DISTRICT TRANSFERS

Intra District Transfers (within district) window for the 2022-2023 school year will begin on January 13, 2022-February 28, 2022.

Please email vsolorio@valverde.edu with any transfer questions or concerns.

The Governing Board desires to provide enrollment options that meet the diverse needs and interests of district students, parents, and guardians while also balancing enrollment in order to maximize the efficient use of district facilities.

There are two processes by which a parent may request approval to attend a school other than their neighborhood school:
  • InterDistrict Transfers Incoming from the district of residence
  • IntraDistrict Transfers within the district
All Transfer Requests are subject to space availability at the school, grade, and /or program requested, depending on the time of submission. They are NOT guaranteed. Please plan to attend your school of residence unless you are notified that your transfer is approved.

Val Verde USD Board Policy requires transfer students to maintain 90% attendance and good behavior (no out of school suspensions).

If your child already attends the requested transfer school on an Intra (within), he or she may continue to attend there until a grade span change (grades 5 and /or 8) unless you received a letter stating otherwise.

If your child attends a VVUSD school site on an Inter Incoming transfer from another district your child's transfer must be renewed yearly.

INTER-DISTRICT TRANSFER REQUESTS

An Inter-District transfer allows your child to attend a school outside of your school district of residence. Inter-District transfers must be renewed every year from your district of residence.

  • You must complete a form to be released from your district of residence to begin the process. All Inter-District transfer requests must be completed before you may attend an outside district. Due to the closures please email registration@valverde.edu for information regarding an Inter-district transfer request.
  • Once VVUSD or your district approves the release, the receiving district will consider your request.
  • The length of approvals are based on the Inter-District agreements adopted by both governing boards and may last through grade span changes when your child will enter a new school (middle school or high school)

Inter-District transfers  will be reviewed within 10 business days.

  • Approved transfers can be revoked due to chronic non-attendance (>10% of school days), truancies (>30 minutes tardy or early release), or disciplinary or academic issues.
To submit appeals for Inter-District transfers, you must submit an appeal form to the Registration Center. If your appeal is denied, you may submit an appeal to the county by visiting the Riverside County Office of Education website at: www.rcoe.us

Requests submitted after May 18, 2021 may not be considered until a minimum of 10 days after school begins and class loads are determined.

INTRA-DISTRICT TRANSFER REQUESTS

An Intra-District transfer allows your child to attend a school other than your neighborhood school.

  • You may use the Intra form on the left of the webpage in forms or the links below to submit your application to registration@valverde.edu.
    • INTRA-DISTRICT TRANSFER--ENGLISH
    • INTRA-DISTRICT TRANSFER--SPANISH
  • An Intra-District transfer may be valid through a grade span change when your child will enter a new school (middle school or high school)
  • The Intra-District transfer form may be submitted in PDF format to registration@valverde.edu
  • The window for Intra-district transfers for the 22-23 school year will open from January 13, 2022, thru February 28, 2022.  If you submit the transfer after February 28, 2022. Your transfer will not be processed until 10 days after the start of school.
  • The Intra-District transfer request window is Jan. 13- Feb. 28

Please provide your email when submitting your Intra District Transfer, you will receive a letter telling you if the transfer was approved or denied or a copy of the approved or denied transfer.

FOR REQUESTS SUBMITTED AFTER FEBRUARY 28 your transfer will be approved or denied based on space available, however, you will NOT be placed on a waiting list.

Approved transfers can be revoked due to chronic non-attendance (>10% of school days), truancies (>30 minutes tardy or early release), disciplinary or academic issues.

Requests submitted after February 26 may not be considered until a minimum of 10 days after school begins and class loads are determined.

CONDITIONS FOR APPROVAL

  • Parent/guardian assumes responsibility for providing transportation.
  • Students must maintain attendance of 90% or better.
Any arrival after 30 minutes or early pick up of 30 minutes or more is considered a truancy by the state of California.
  • Students with truancies may have their transfers revoked.
  • Students are expected to follow all class and school rules.
  • Disciplinary issues such as suspension are grounds for revocation.
The transfer is granted for your child's current school. When your child changes schools at 5th or 8th grade, he/she will be assigned to their neighborhood school unless you apply for and receive a transfer.
