CONTRACTS & PURCHASING SERVICES

Contracts & Purchasing is committed to supporting the mission, values, and vision of the District by:


  • Providing outstanding service to our customers (students/staff) with expert purchasing knowledge for specific commodities, latest product development and trends
  • Serving as an informational base in the development of standards to provide our customers with the highest quality products at the least cost, with long life cycles, and considering public safety
  • Overseeing and executing Contracts & Purchase Orders for specified goods and services to eliminate purchase duplication and consolidation of required products/services to take advantage of quantity discounts in materials and freight
  • Ensuring compliance with state procurement laws by monitoring procurement practices, vendors, and contracts
  • Performing procurement functions with the most ethical practices to ensure integrity of District
  • Maintaining centralized contracting and inventory records for internal control to aid in warranty information, audit control, total cost of life cycles, and contractual obligations
  • Promoting Vendor/District relationships to ensure Win-Win for all
  • Supporting each other in a cooperative environment ensuring respect, trust and collaboration


FACILITIES

The mission for Facilities is to secure funding, design and build new schools, and modernize existing facilities in a timely manner according to all legal and compliance standards while accommodating the district’s student enrollment. Facilities areas of responsibility include:

  • Development/implementation of Facilities Master Plan
  • Land acquisition and site selection
  • Facilities construction and modernization
  • Administration of the construction of new schools and modernization of existing schools
  • Administration of professional services associated with all school construction
  • Collection and dispensation of developer fees
  • Monitoring new housing developments within the district

Val Verde USD Using Solar Power

Val Verde Unified School District has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement with SolarCity for an estimated 6.8 megawatts (MW) of solar power.  Solar systems will be installed on canopies above parking lots and play areas at all 22 school sites and District Office with construction expected to begin this summer at Rancho Verde High School and Citrus Hill High School, with the balance of the sites to be completed by summer of 2017.  Energy savings is estimated at $26,208,249 over a 20-year period.  Two community meetings were held on May 18, 2016 and May 19, 2016 to allow the community to provide input on the appearance of the structures.
