Val Verde USD Using Solar Power

Val Verde Unified School District has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement with SolarCity for an estimated 6.8 megawatts (MW) of solar power.  Solar systems have been installed on canopies above parking lots and play areas at 20 school sites with energy savings estimated at $26,208,249 over a 20-year period.  Two community meetings were held on May 18, 2016 and May 19, 2016 to allow the community to provide input on the appearance of the structures.
