IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING DISTRICT TRANSFERS
It is the general intent of the district that students attend their neighborhood schools - that is, the school that serves the attendance area in which they reside. However, the district also supports the concept of school choice within the limitations of space availability. There are three processes by which a parent may request approval to attend a school other than their neighborhood school. Those processes are: Open Enrollment Intradistrict Transfers, Regular Intradistrict Transfers and Interdistrict Transfers. For additional information on student transfers, contact the Central Registration Office at: 951-940-6102. TRANSFER APPLICATION TIMELINE Applications for Interdistrict (from and to other school districts) transfers will be accepted throughout the school year. Intradistrict (between schools within the Val Verde School District) transfers will be accepted between January 16, 2018 – February 28, 2018 for the 2018-2019 school year. Types of Transfers |
REGULAR INTRADISTRICT TRANSFERS (Between VVUSD Schools) Residents may request a transfer to another district school for reasons such as pupil adjustment, parental choice, and to complete the school year, among other reasons. This process begins by submitting a Val Verde Intradistrict Transfer Request Form to Central Registration located at 972 W. Morgan St. Perris, CA 92571. Approvals are on an annual basis. Approved transfers can be revoked due to attendance, behavior, lack of academic progress, or increased attendance from students within the school boundary. These transfers are approved on a case-by-case basis and subject to space availability. Sierra Vista (K–6) Elementary School have limited space for transfers. Requests submitted after February 28, 2018 for the 2018 – 2019 school year will be considered after the school year begins and class loads are determined. INTERDISTRICT TRANSFERS (From Outside VVUSD) Residents who live in another district may request a transfer to attend a Val Verde school for reasons which include but are not limited to: employment in the VVUSD, child care, senior status, and an impending move. Transfers are approved on a case-by-case basis, subject to space availability. District policy establishes priority for siblings of previously approved students and also for district employees. Interdistrict transfers are subject to revocation for attendance, behavior or lack of academic progress, and must be renewed annually. Inter-district transfers coming from outside VVUSD must submit transfer with District of Residence first. |
