Rancho Verde High School is committed to preparing each student to be successful after graduation.
We recently earned a six year WASQ accreditation and have greatly enhanced our academic offerings.
These offerings include: AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), Geography, Integrated Science,
American Literature, American Studies, and World Studies. Our Advanced Placement program has expanded
to include: AP Art, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Calculus, AP Language, AP Literature, AP Government,
AP Spanish, and AP World History. We have included Advisory and SSR (Sustained Silent Reading) as a
daily requirement school wide. We have expanded the use of critical thinking, reading and writing
across the curriculum, mastery learning and student-centered learning through a district wide
initiative called Understanding by Design. Moreover, we have increased student/teacher interaction
time and lowered the student/teacher ratio. Finally, we have sped up the transition of English Language
Learners and Special Education students to regular classes, and are here to provide positive opportunities
for all of our students.
The staff at Rancho Verde High School is dedicated to the mission “Challenge and Motivate.”
This mission is driven by a philosophy of continuous improvement that is manifested in Professional
Learning Communities and Understanding by Design.
All students at Rancho Verde High School are encouraged to get involved in their school.
The Val Verde Unified School District’s Board of Education and District Superintendent, Dr. Fred
Workman, support co-curricular and extra curricular activities. Therefore, a number of activities
are available for students.
As a result of these initiatives, Rancho Verde High School is recognized by the State of California
as one high school that has dramatically increased test scores over the last four years. As a matter
of fact, Rancho Verde High School’s Academic performance Index has increased 112 points from a base API
in 2001 of 567 to an estimated growth API of 679 in 2005.
To be a Mustang, is to be a winner! Whether it’s on the field, or in academic competition, our
students are winning and we are proud of them. If you are new to the area, welcome home. For more
