Superintendent, Dr. Alan Jensen
Dear Neighbors,

This past school year was full of triumphs and challenges. Student achievement continues to increase, as measured by VVUSD’s rising test scores and college admission rates. In addition, several local schools were recognized across the state and nation for raising academic achievement standards among all students. This is made possible by a talented and dedicated staff working with exceptional students who have strong support from parents and the community.

Everyone knows that the State of California is struggling through a period of budget uncertainty. We have worked hard to keep cuts away from the classroom here at VVUSD by reducing administration and keeping non-instruction costs to a bare minimum. Our employees have made concessions that have allowed us to preserve instructional programs for students. Despite these efforts, jobs have been lost and programs have been cut.

Our ongoing challenge will be to work together in a positive spirit to sustain our remarkable progress in student achievement during these challenging times. Our community has a strong tradition of supporting local schools, which we will rely on more than ever in the months ahead.

Please feel free to contact me with your questions and feedback about our local schools at ajensen@valverde.edu or by calling (951) 940-6100 ext. 10201.

Sincerely,

Alan Jensen, Ed.D.
Superintendent
