Risk Management
The Risk Management Department uses proven risk management strategies to minimize, avoid, manage, and/or transfer risks associated with student, employee, and other liability issues arising from accidents, damages to district property and risks associated with employment practices. We constantly review and implement new practices and methods to increase the effectiveness of the Risk Management Department. This allows us to stay ahead of trends and minimize District costs for all Risk Management programs.

Risk Management follows these six principles to effectively and efficiently manage district related risks:

  • District-wide Perspective — Risk Management looks at the district as a whole to design risk management programs to meet the specific needs of the entire District.

  • Future Planning — Risk Management is actively involved in anticipating and identifying all potential risks and uncertainties, and the outcomes associated with changes in district facilities, programs and our fluctuating student population.

  • Communication — Risk Management utilizes a variety of formal, informal and impromptu communication strategies to ensure and encourage the exchange of information between departments, school sites and outside entities in the community.

  • Combined Management — Risk Management is an active partner in the planning of all facilities projects and is an integral part of our District-wide culture.

  • Ongoing activities — Risk Management focus requires constant review and vigilance to identify and manage risks that affect the District. This includes ongoing and diversified safety training for all departments and classifications.

  • Teamwork — Risk Management shares the vision and goals of the Superintendent and the Board of Education and works in cooperation with all Departments to achieve these goals.
