Back to Directory Many basic eye and vision care services are provided, free of charge, to eligible children and parents with low income. Eyeglasses are provided at $20 a pair. No social security number is required. Applications may be obtained in Val Verde USD from the health office at each school. Applications (in Spanish or English) can also be obtained upon request from 1 (800) 877-5738 or may be downloaded from the California Optometric Association's website at http://www.coavision.org.

Sight for StudentsPlease contact one of the Val Verde Unified School District nurses or health techs for details. If eligible, a "gift certificate" to be used for children who need vision care will be provided. Among the eligibility requirements are: family income is no more than 200% of federal poverty level, child is not enrolled in MediCal or any other vision insurance program, and the child or parent is a U.S. citizen or documented immigrant with a social security number.
