For help with parent-child conflict resolution, this hotline provides professional counselors to help deal with any type of family problem. Spanish-speaking counselors as well as translation services for more than 100 languages are available. This is also a suicide, victims, and offender's hotline as well as a referral line for drug abuse, basic needs (e.g., shelter, food), pregnancy and sexuality information.

National Hope Line1 (800) SUICIDE [1 (800) 784-2433] This is the number for a national suicide hotline. It is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Your call may be routed to places as diverse as Los Angles, Iowa , or Utah depending on which site is available when you call.
National Runaway Switchboard1 (800) 786-2929 [1 (900) RUN-AWAY] Several services are available through this agency. There is a home free program in which a youth who has run away is provided with a free one-way bus ticket home if he or she qualifies. There is also a message service whereby messages are conveyed from youth who have run away to parents or vice versa. Finally, a 24-hour confidential hotline for children & teenagers is available. Kids are welcome to call to discuss anything, big or little, and referrals will be provided if appropriate. • Æ The Internet connection for this agency, http://www.nrscrisisline.org , has sections for youth, for parents, for teachers, and for other concerned adults. National Suicide Prevention Lifeline1 (800) 273-TALK This is the number for a network of local crisis centers located in communities across the country. Staffers are committed to suicide prevention and callers will receive suicide prevention counseling from trained staff at the nearest certified crisis center in the network.

Teenline Hotline1 (800) TLC-TEEN [1-800-852-8336] (Staffed from 6-10 p.m. 365 days a year.) Young people staff this phone line so teen-agers may discuss issues of concern with peers.
