PART I: On January 13, 2003 general earthwork construction activities commenced, which include demolition of the existing citrus orchard, exporting 65,000 cubic yards of earth, grading, installation of portions of the storm water system, and construction of over one mile of retaining wall systems. To date, the contractor has exported 65,000 cubic yards of earth and removed 35,000 cubic yards of exposed and blasted rock (granite). Installation of the retaining wall is continuing and is 99 percent complete. Off -site street improvements are underway at, and across Wood and Markham Streets, with issues currently awaiting County review and approval. PART II: Construction started August 4, 2003 with the Administration Building. Subsequently, the Administration Building, Library, two Science Buildings, Vocational Arts Building, Cafeteria, Weight Room, Stadium Snack Bar, Music Building, Electrical Building, three Classroom Buildings, Amphitheatre, Football Stadium. Work progressed throughout the month of August; The roofing and plaster are in progress on six Modular Buildings. Progress has been made on the Music Building, Gymnasium, Locker Room Facility, and Underground Utilities. All buildings are completely framed. The Amphitheatre at the center of the classroom area has taken shape with the pouring of center slab and orchestra pit. Parking lots on the West side are scheduled for paving in September. The Main Pavilion outside the Administration Building is 95% complete . Flatwork around Science Buildings and the Library is in progress. The Administration Building is nearing completion. The exterior of the Administration building has stucco complete and metal roof sections in progress. The Science Buildings, Industrial Arts Building and Cafeteria are the farthest along as interior rough-ins are complete, exterior plaster complete and drywall nearing completion. The Library rough in is complete and the building is being dry walled. The Gymnasium, the largest building on campus, now has its high roof framing and decking in place and low roof metal decks have been poured. Also at near completion, are the Retaining Walls, including those that bound the Stadium and Bleacher areas. The extensive slope grading at the East slope, along the property line, and at the South property line is completed and perimeter fence is in place at the East and South sides. August weather has been hot, yet morale remains high on site, as all trades show great cooperation in coordinating the complex systems that will comprise this modern and comprehensive High School Campus. |
