PART I: On January 13, 2003 general earthwork construction activities commenced, which include demolition of the existing citrus orchard, exporting 65,000 cubic yards of earth, grading, installation of portions of the storm water system, and construction of over one mile of retaining wall systems.
To date, the contractor has exported 65,000 cubic yards of earth and removed 35,000 cubic yards of exposed and blasted rock (granite). The earthwork is progressing and is 85 percent complete. Installation of the retaining wall is continuing and is 90 percent complete. The installation of the 60” and 36” storm water drain system is in progress and the sub-terrain drain and AG water re-route portion of construction is complete.
PART II: Currently over twenty buildings inclusive of two baseball, softball, and soccer fields, ten tennis courts, and a modern football stadium, which seats up to 4000 people, are scheduled to be constructed over the next two years.
Construction started August 4, 2003 with the Gymnasium. Subsequently, the Administration Building, Library, two Science Buildings, Vocational Arts Building, Cafeteria, Weight Room, Stadium Snack Bar, Music Building, Electrical Building, three Classroom Buildings, Amphitheatre, Football Stadium and Modular Buildings have construction initiated and are in various stages of completion.
Work progressed adequately throughout the month of March, construction commenced at the six Modular Building locations, starting with foundations, marked progress with the Music Building, Gym, Locker Room Facility, and continued progress with Underground Utilities. While the framing of several Buildings have been complete (Locker / Team Room Building, Stadium Snack Bar, two Science Buildings, Cafeteria, Industrial Arts Building, Weight Room, Library and two Classroom Buildings), the Music Building framing is underway. The Amphitheatre at the center of the Classroom Area is looking great with both legs blocked to full height and concrete steps poured. The Administration Building is the farthest along as interior rough-in, is close to completion. The Geoflex and metal roof installation is being conducted at the two Science Buildings and Cafeteria Building, hollow metal doors and window frames are installed, and the exterior lath & plaster have commenced. Drywall is staged and the last rough-in items, which include fire and signal devices, are progressing. Also, the largest Building-Gymnasium, which is made of masonry, is at full height, and is awaiting its Structural Steel and Metal Roofing. |
