PART I: On January 13, 2003 general earthwork construction activities commenced, which include demolition of the existing citrus orchard, exporting 65,000 cubic yards of earth, grading, installation of portions of the storm water system, and construction of over one mile of retaining wall systems. To date, the contractor has exported 65,000 cubic yards of earth and removed 35,000 cubic yards of exposed and blasted rock (granite). The earthwork is progressing and is 85 percent complete. Installation of the retaining wall is continuing and is 90 percent complete. The installation of the 60” and 36” storm water drain system is in progress and the sub-terrain drain and AG water re-route portion of construction is complete. PART II: Currently over twenty buildings inclusive of two baseball, softball, and soccer fields, ten tennis courts, and a modern football stadium, which seats up to 4000 people, are scheduled to be constructed over the next two years. Construction started August 4, 2003 with survey and layout of Building S, which is the Gymnasium. Subsequently Buildings R, A, and D; Administration, Library and Science buildings respectively were laid out and construction initiated. Work progressed nicely throughout the month of February, the Music Building commenced. While framing at several Buildings has completed, Locker Room / Team Room Building, Stadium Snack Bar, two Science Buildings, Cafeteria, and Industrial Arts Building. Framing is underway with the Weight Room and two Classroom Buildings. The Administration Building is the farthest along as interior rough in is close to completion. The roof is 90% complete, hollow metal doors and window frames are installed, and exterior lath & plaster has commenced. The largest Building, which is the Gymnasium, continues to rise skyward as the masons on scaffolds deftly lay the precision and split faced block and place reinforcing steel. The Library now has the steel frame complete and framing is quickly nearing completion. Also, nearing completion is the massive retaining wall that bounds the Stadium on the south side. This particular area imposed an engineering challenge due to natural ground water at that sector of the site. The radius wall, which will bear the School name and logo is under construction across the east end of the football field. |
